Kandy is a central destination from which other regions of the island can all be accessed. It is also the halfway point from Colombo to the hill-country town of Nuwara Eliya. Kandy can be accessed by train or car along the main Colombo – Kandy road. Useful drive times: Colombo to Kandy (3.5 hours); Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (3 hours); Kandy town to Victoria Golf & Country Club (45 minutes); Kandy town to Knuckles Range (1 hour); Kandy to Habarana (3 hours); Kandy to Galle (6-6.5 hours).

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Kandy (Ancient Senkadagala) is the last capital of the Sinhala Monarchy the History of which goes back to at least fivecenturies before the beginning of the Common Era. The heritage of Kandy, Architecture, Sculpture, painting, Dance and Music, all such cultural traditions are endemic to Sri Lanka.Kandy remains the home for all denominations of major world religions.
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic constitutes the premier Buddhist Institution of Sri Lanka and remains the cynosure of the world Buddhist and is a great tourist attraction.The annual pageant (Esala Perahera) constitutes the greatest religious festival of Sri Lanka which attract thousands of pilgrims as well as tourists from all over the world. Hantana Tea Museum
The Museum which is located in Hantane three miles from Kandy city, in the central region of Sri Lanka. The Hantane Tea factory built in 1925 converted as the museum. The factory building consists of four floors.
It traces the 130-years history of the first tea plant brought to Sri Lanka by the English Gentleman, James Tylor. Tea Museum is a joint project by the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Planters' Association of Sri Lanka.

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens
Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is situated about 5.5 km to the west from the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka and attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 Km2), at 460 meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.
Kandy City Center (KCC)

National Museum, Kandy
This building established during Sri Wickrama Rajasingha era was then known as “Palle Vahala” This was used as the palace where the Queens of the king lived. This building has been built according to the architectural features of Kandy period. This pallevahala building was used to deposit the various items of historical value made by Kandy Art Association established in 1832 and technicians of Matale district. This was opened for the public as a museum 1942.
This museum has over 5000 museum objects which are depicting various aspects historical and cultural events of the Kandyan period. (17-19 century A.D.)
